GINHAWA is a general intervention that includes preventive education and self-help. This program aims to address the needs of low risk substance users to become aware of their wellbeing, the effects of stress, and the healthy ways they can cope with stress to avoid unhealthy coping through substance use.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The Board Regulation no. 7 s. 2019 of the Dangerous Drugs Board directs a new client flow for the treatment of People Who Use Drugs (PWUDs). With this new client flow, PWUDs are categorized by risk (low, moderate, high) and are then given appropriate treatment. PWUDs under low risk are directed to undergo general intervention, which includes preventive education and self-help. This program intends to provide the said structured general intervention to address the needs of low risk PWUDs to become aware of their own wellbeing, the effects of stress, and the healthy ways they can cope with stress.
ENTRY COMPETENCIES OF PARTICIPANTS (Prerequisites):
This course is offered to adults who have been screened under low risk for substance use dependence, as well as for college/university students and individuals in workplaces who need a general intervention on overall wellbeing and substance use.
COURSE OBJECTIVES/EXPECTED OUTCOMES: The aim of the course is to deliver a general intervention which will educate participants on the aspects of wellbeing, adaptive ways of coping with stress, the effects of cigarette smoking, alcohol, and drugs, as well as the different life skills useful for an adaptive lifestyle. At the end of the course, the participants are expected to be able to perform the following learning outcomes (LOs):

LO4 Identify helpful and unhelpful ways to cope with stress

LO7 Identify the triggers that lead to using cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs
LO8 Determine ways to manage cravings to use cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs
LO9 Clarify myths on using cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs
LO10 Identify the elements of effective communication
